Google has announced a definitive agreement to acquire Wiz, a leading cloud security company, for $32 billion in an all-cash transaction. Once finalized, Wiz will become part of Google Cloud, marking a major investment in cybersecurity and multi-cloud capabilities. The acquisition reflects Google Cloud’s commitment to strengthening security in an era where artificial intelligence and cloud adoption continue to reshape the digital landscape.

Sundar Pichai, CEO of Google and Alphabet, emphasized the importance of security in today’s cloud-driven world. “From its earliest days, Google’s strong security focus has made us a leader in keeping people safe online. Today, businesses and governments that run in the cloud are looking for even stronger security solutions and greater choices in cloud computing providers. Together, Google Cloud and Wiz will turbocharge improved cloud security and the ability to use multiple clouds.”
Strengthening cybersecurity across multiple platforms
Wiz offers a cloud safety tool made to work with big cloud setups, helping firms, new startups, and state groups. The firm has grown fast in the cyber safety field. It offers new tools that help groups stop hacks and act on risks better.
By buying Wiz, Google Cloud seeks to better how safety is built, run and made to work on many sites. The deal will help teams work fast by giving tools that act on their own. It should also lower costs for users while keeping their data safe. The buyout will guard against new risks from AI.
Thomas Kurian, CEO of Google Cloud, highlighted the shared vision between the two companies. “Google Cloud and Wiz share a joint vision to make cybersecurity more accessible and simpler to use for organizations of any size and industry. Enabling more companies to prevent cyber attacks, including in very complex business software environments, will help organizations minimize the cost, disruption and hassle caused by cybersecurity incidents.”
Commitment to multicloud security
Even with the acquisition, Wiz will still support all big cloud firms, like AWS, Azure, and Oracle Cloud. Google Cloud will keep giving its users a wide set of safety tools through its market and partner links. This fits the trend of using many clouds, letting firms work across platforms with better safety.
Assaf Rappaport, CEO of Wiz, underscored the long-term vision for Wiz’s role in the industry. “Wiz and Google Cloud are fully committed to continue supporting and protecting customers across all major clouds, helping keep them safe and secure wherever they operate…”
Rules and next steps
The deal is subject to regulatory approvals and customary closing conditions. To talk about the deal, Google has set up a webcast with Pichai, Kurian, Rappaport, and Google’s CFO, Anat Ashkenazi. The talk will share more on how Wiz will join Google Cloud’s safety tools. With this deal, Google Cloud aims to lead in cyber safety as groups face more complex risks. By mixing Wiz’s skills with Google’s AI safety tools, the firm seeks to give a full and scalable way to guard cloud spaces worldwide.
